8 secret powers useful when change is afoot (no pun intended)

InterPlay Monday Morning Emails

Somewhere in the midst of improvising with body and soul, listening to life, and honing 26 core InterPlay practices Phil Porter performed 8 of our key tools as a set. We were in North Carolina at the beach. He got up in front of thirty folks and the 8 tools flew out in a fun, powerful, body intellectual lecture in Phil’s inimitable style! Today, wherever people lead the life practice program these 8 tools form the foundation, the bones of InterPlay. When change is afoot they help us navigate.

Noticing any changes in the world?

The 8 tools are part of a larger set of 26 core elements. When people think of InterPlay they often reference forms like sighing, shaking, Babbling, Hand-to-Hand Contact, the Warm-up, Walking, Stopping & Running, One-Hand Dances, Toning, and one breath songs. Yet, it’s the 8 tools that are the backbone organizing our beautiful, brainy…

Hello world!

Welcome to  Stay tuned for my new blog: Words of Wisdom from Toni Earthmother for Peace. Coming soon!

Changing more than the Seasons

Two years ago I  watched my son Brandon being led away from the courtroom in handcuffs.  And these were the thoughts I had as he walked away.

This was another milestone in my life, one that every mother dreads.   Having no chance to put my arms around him, bless him, and pray to The Mother to protect him, I simply sighed.  This was my baby; my only natural-born son; flesh of my flesh — and I could do nothing but simply watch him walk away, ready to embark on a perilous journey of his own through the Pennsylvania state penal system.  Like so many other African-American men, B would be spending the next two to four years locked behind bars — another victim of theU.S.  prison industrial system.

Praying for his well-being and safety, I made a vow that I would do something for the men and women who find themselves in this predicament.  More often when people have served their time and when released to go back into society they come home to a different world. How can I serve these people and  how best can I serve my son? As Earth Mother for Peace it is my duty to do something.  I will pray on it, and seek guidance from my sister-friends.

Today, Brandon is in CSI Bootcamp, waiting for his release in October this year.  I still pray for him everyday. But soon I will see him walking out of Bootcamp a free man.

The Meaning of One (1) –

Fall is my favorite time of year.  The turning of the leaves, the cool crisp mornings, and the glorious crinsom and purple skies of sunset resonate within my soul.  October is the month in which I was born and this year is a seminal one for me.  I am about to enter into a new cycle on my journey in this current incarnation on the planet Earth.   According to numerology this is my One (1) year, a time of new beginnings.   My birthdate — October 15, 2010 equals 11, an important number because it cannot be reduced to its smallest denominator — a prime number and a number of great significance.  I am destined for great things according by my favorite numerologist, who also happens to be a true soul sister.  She and I share opposites signs — I am Libra and she is Aries — we are women of the equinoxes in the Wheel of the Year.  LaVerne was actually born on the Vernal Equinox, and I arrived almost 30 days after the turn of the wheel to the Fall Equinox — when the days and nights are equal all over the world.  Maybe this is why we have been traveling on the same path for the past few years.  I’ve known LaVerne for years, but it wasn’t until we were both “discovered” by InterPlay three years ago, and we’ve been playing ever since. Anyway, according to the numbers — the Universe has brought us together in many ways.  She is truly an Earth Woman and so am I.
